How to Use Google Pay on an iPhone
[ad_1]
iPhone users typically rely on Apple Pay to make payments easy. But if you’ve recently switched over from Android, you might want to know how to use Google Pay on your device. After all, you might still have money in your Google account or just like using Google Pay.
Luckily, this is easy to do. Not only can you send a receive money, but you can even pay merchants using Google Pay on your iPhone. Here, we’ll show you how.
Download the Google Pay App
Since this is an Apple device, the Google Pay app won’t come pre-installed. After all, it does directly compete with Apple’s own payment app.
Fortunately, Google Pay is a safe and secure app you can download for free from the App Store and use.

How to Set Up and Use the Google Pay App
Once you’ve downloaded the app, it’s time to set up Google Pay. When you open the app for the first time, you’ll be prompted to sign in to your Google account. You might have to verify your phone number as well.
Once that’s done, you will see the main page of your Google Pay account. When you sign into Google Pay on a new device, all your cards and passes should transfer over.
However, you should verify this to be sure. To do this, tap on your profile photo in the top-right corner and you’ll see a list of your accounts and passes.
If you don’t, tap Set up your Google Pay balance to add your bank accounts or a credit card.
Once you do this, you will be ready to send and receive money. Google Pay users can now send money abroad as well.
How to Pay In-Store With the Google Pay App
One of the best features of both Apple Pay and Google Pay is the ability to pay merchants in person using the app. However, since the iPhone isn’t a Google device, the way to pay a merchant in person will look a little different.
To pay in person, you will use the QR code scanner in the app. Tap the Explore tab at the bottom of the app, and you’ll see a QR code icon in the top-left corner. Tap on it to open the scanner.
Scan the QR code at the register, vending machine, or wherever a Google Pay code is available. Then, you will have the option to send money and make a payment. You can also show your own QR code and receive payments here as well.
Some businesses also have location features enabled. If you enable location with Google Pay, you can find discounts in your area and even get cash back.
This is in the same Explore tab as the QR code reader. All you need to do is scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see Turn on location. Then, simply tap on it.
Should You Use Google Pay or Apple Pay?
Many Android users who switch to an iPhone would want to keep using Google Pay. After all, all your credit cards, passes, and bank accounts are already linked.
However, since an iPhone isn’t a Google device, some features are limited. For example, Apple Pay allows you to pay by pressing the power button twice, which you can’t do with the Google Pay app on an iPhone. You can also use Apple Pay for in-app purchases.
While Google Pay can be used on iPhone, you may want to consider switching to Apple Pay, at least for some of its features.
