Will Apple Bring Reverse Wireless Charging to the iPhone?

Reverse wireless charging is a feature that some smartphones have to allow them to charge other devices wirelessly. The first device to include this was the Samsung Galaxy S10, and for many Android users, it’s something they already take for granted when they buy a new device.

However, this technology is not yet available on the iPhone. Fortunately, new information suggests we could see an iPhone with reverse wireless charging soon.

Apple May Be Working on Reverse Wireless Charging for the iPhone

According to a report by 9to5Mac, Apple is still working on this technology after missing its target. Apparently, the company aimed to implement this technology in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max but failed to complete development in time for launch.

The Cupertino tech giant is reportedly working on custom firmware that would enable reverse wireless charging, manage the transmission speed, and make it as efficient as possible. This would also increase heat dissipation, making it a pleasant and reliable experience for the user.

It appears that Apple’s software team is also working on a new interface unique to this technology. This would include on-screen animations, sound effects, etc. Finally, 9to5Mac’s unnamed source warns that it is possible that this technology gets delayed again, as Apple has been trying to implement it since the iPhone 11, and has not yet succeeded.

Why Reverse Wireless Charging Is a Big Deal for the iPhone

Reverse wireless charging could be a game changer for the iPhone. It would put an end to some situations that all of us iPhone users suffer regularly and are currently unable to solve.

You may have been in a situation where you left home with your iPhone and AirPods, only to realize that the AirPods have no battery and you can’t listen to music. Or maybe you ran out of battery in a place with no power outlets. Reverse wireless charging on the iPhone can solve that problem, among many others.

Apple could try to integrate MagSafe into the system. Since the second-gen AirPods Pro comes with MagSafe technology, Apple could find a way to attach the case to the back of your iPhone to charge the AirPods while you still use it. The magnets would need to be modified, but it is possible.

Reverse Wireless Charging Is a Necessity
